MOUNT ARARAT

Mount Ararat is considered the place where Noah's Ark rests after the end of the great flood, having preserved one male and one female of each animal species, as the book of Genesis relates.
In the icy plains of Anatolia, on the fourfold border between Turkey, Iran, Armenia and the Najichevan enclave, Azerbaijan territory, the large sleepy volcano crowned with perpetual snows is imposed as a great geographical landmark making an essential part of the landscape of this four national territories.
The Ararat as a symbolic place, is the guardian of the sacred ark and is a heritage of faith in a universal sense. It is par excellence the symbol of salvation.
In the great founding myths, the cataclysms by waters destroyed a humanity so that another new regenerated and purified, one appeared, as a regression to the primordial chaos and to the original cosmogony. Ark equals salvation.
The myth refers to events that perhaps never happened, but like all the myths of origin, when repeated inexorably with the passing of time, they offer humanity to illuminate and understand the present.

The flight, displacement, ephemeral settlements, shipwrecks, extinctions of some animal species, viewed from the world we inhabit today, inspire the realization of this proposal.

Approach to a series of animals that have already become extinct. Some are documented as the last of the species.
ESCAPE, video projected on the exhibition room floor, which reveals the journey of the Rohingya, Muslim minority, expelled from their villages in Myanmar, mostly Buddhists, on a long journey on foot to Bangladesh, in search of a camp for refugees.

ROHINGYA, is a small tribute to the women of this Muslim ethnic group who have been victims of persecution and displacement from their homes by the Myanmar Buddhist army, stoically enduring all kinds of harassment, deprivation, and suffering.
